Regency Pontypool Tole Tray 'Four Seasons'

Description

A Regency Pontypool Tole Tray.

The oval rim, gently sloping inward and downward to surround the flat centre. The ends of the rim with oval hand holds, set amongst gilt decoration of vines, and tendrils, the centre of the tray decorated with a charming scene of four females, dressed and carrying emblems of The Four Seasons( a brazier, autumn fruits, a summer harvest and spring flowers), as they walk toward a classical temple in the rolling countryside.

Date circa 1820.

Height 1 3/4 inches, 4.5cm.

Width 19 1/4 inches, 49cm.
