A fabulous pair of antique Georgian old sheffield plate sauce or vegetable tureens and covers. Oval shape with ornate handles, lion paw feet and decorated with scrolling acathus leaves and flowers. each tureen with hole for serving spoon.
The pair come with a sales receipt to show they were purchased in New York in 1963 from The prestigious company of Shrubsole Inc, for $259.09, equivalent to about $4,500 Today.
Shrubsole are still trading today from New York.
They would look very elegant on a Georgian dining room table.
Condition
Very good antique condition, a small old repair to the interior of one tureen.
