A fabulous and unusual antique 19th century mahogany cased Chibouk Ottomon smoking pipe. The fitted hinged case lined with red velvet with working lock and key. Enclosing an antique Chibouk smoking pipe in four sections. Each mahogany section with sterling silver threaded mount that screws each section together. The mouthpiece is made of amber. The tobacco end bowl is made of sterling silver in the form of a beautiful tulip flower with a meersham bowl.
When all the sections are put together it is a total of 122cm in length.
The silver parts are hallmarked for Benjamin Smith III, London, 1844.
It was probably made for an English gentlemen who was visiting the Turkish Empire as part of a grand European tour.
The dimensions are for the mahogany box, but when the pipe is assembled it is 122cm long which is just over 4 feet in length.
Condition
In good antique condition, some wear from age and use, hallmarks to silver are a bit rubbed.
