1962 Longines Grand Prize Automatic

1940 - 1960
Description

A 1962 Longines Grand Prize Automatic wristwatch. A silvered dial with a 'sunburst' finish to the outer edges. The outer minute track surround has a two-step recess into the dial, with a mirror finish. Applied gilt hour markers of alternating design, with tonneau shaped quarter markers and extended markers to the rest. Signed 'Swiss' below 6 o'clock. A rather unusual feature on this watch is the central 10 minute markers surrounding a disc in the centre. Applied Longines logo below the date aperture at 12. The hours and minutes are indicated by a variation of 'Syringe' hands.

A one-piece 10k gold filled case, signed to the inner 'Wittnauer', indicating the connection between Longines and their US brand. Case reference 69-308. Each of the lugs has a central champfering, a similar design to the bezel edge.

The watch is powered by a 17 jewel caliber 340 Longines mechanism. The 11.8m serial numbers date the watch to 1962.

Case width (excluding crown) 34mm

Case height 42mm

Case depth 11mm

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
