In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1920s.
It has a hook at the top for hanging the lamp and the burner is protected by thick glass. The brass base unscrews to access the burner.
The lamp is in good original condition and displays well.
The lamp is untested and I have not had it burning with paraffin in, however the burner looks to be in good shape and I see no reason why it should not work as designed.
