Antique Japanese Bronze Vase, Meiji Period, Late 19th Century

Description

Antique Meiji Japanese heavy cast bronze vase of classic teardrop shape with a beautiful variegated patina in gold, copper and brown. Highly detailed engraving of beautiful ornament with inlaid silver clouds across the height of the vase.



In the centre of the vase is an image of a mythical monster that looks like a giant squid with a long tail.



Dimensions:

Height 27.8cm

Neck diameter 3 cm

Body diameter 7.3 cm

Base diameter 5.2 cm

Weight 511 g



Condition - Minor wear to the top and base rim, otherwise excellent antique condition with age-related patina.
