Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Rococo Revival bronze sculptures of the late nineteenth century frequently feature playful classical subjects, such as putti or cherubs engaged in Bacchanalian scenes. Inspired by eighteenth-century masters like Claude Michel (Clodion), these works emphasise movement, asymmetrical compositions, and fine surface chasing.

These sculptures were typically cast using the lost-wax or sand-casting method before being hand-chased to detail features such as hair and foliage. The finished bronzes were given a dark chemical patina and mounted onto carved marble bases using threaded iron rods secured beneath.

Authentic nineteenth-century castings exhibit sharp detail from post-cast chasing, substantial weight, and an even patina with age-appropriate wear. Markings or signatures incised into the bronze base often reference Clodion, but verification relies on examining casting quality, seam lines, and mounting hardware.

Placing a pair of dark bronze figures on a marble mantelpiece, sideboard top, or formal bookshelf creates a focal point. The rich tone of the bronze and reddish marble contrast cleanly against minimalist backdrops, painted walls, or dark woodwork.

Dust the bronze regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or light brush, avoiding chemical cleaners that can alter the patina. A light application of neutral microcrystalline wax can be applied sparingly to protect the bronze finish, while marble bases should be wiped clean with a slightly damp cloth.
