The rug has an all over repeat lotus leaf design on a rusty orange ground, this is a variant of the ''tree of life'' design. This is repeated in the hand placements either side of the mihrab. The use of white to highlight the shape of the rugs field is typical of the Khorassan Baluch.The rug is in good condition with slight even wear, and good pile, with soft glossy wool.
