Rare John Rose Coalport Porcelain Dessert Plate, C. 1810

Description

Rare, early 19th century antique John Rose Coalport hard-paste porcelain dessert plate with sumptuous gilding over mazarine blue medallions and white body.



Hand-painted with various floral bouquets including roses, peonies and field flowers in vivid polychrome enamelling.



Ornate gilding of scalloped shells, scrolls and foliage.



Unmarked, dating to c. 1810, Regency period.



Early pre-1805 Coalport porcelain was unmarked and marks were rarely used before 1820.



This kind of pre-1820 Coalport wares were made of hard-paste porcelain.



Diameter 22.5 cm

Height 3 cm

Weight 468 g



Condition: Light scuffing to gilding and small scratches to the enamelling, appropriate to age. The overall visual appearance of the plate is excellent.
