After Thomas Hosmer Shepherd (1792-1864) 'wyld's Monster Globe' Leicester Square, A Hand Coloured Engraving By Jean-marie Chavanne

The globe was originally intended to be part of the Great Exhibition, however its size made this impossible. Instead it was a landmark in Leicester Square for 10 years, being demolished in 1861. Final image (not for sale) illustrates the interior of the building and 60 foot globe!
 
A copy of this rare print is held in the collection of both the V&A and Science Museum in London.
 
From the same series of prints entitled ''The World''s Metropolis or Mighty London'' and also available, is Marble Arch.
 
Both with giltwood and parcel- gilt frames made by Aitken Dott of Edinburgh
 
Size incluing frames: 32cm high x 39cm wide
