Antique Edwardian Albert Chain 9ct Gold With T Bar

£2,150    $2,724    €2,594
This fine antique Edwardian Albert chain is made up of ornate links, some engraved, others faceted with larger, interlocking fetter links in between. They’re all fashioned in a rosy 9ct gold that has developed a pleasing patina with age.

Albert chains were named after Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s consort and were traditionally worn by gentlemen to secure a pocket watch to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. Today, they are also worn as stylish necklaces; a custom that was started by the wives of soldiers during the first World War who wore the chains as a keepsake in the hope they’d return home safely.

It''s a wonderful antique Albert chain dating to the early 1900s and complete with its original clasps and T-bar at the bottom with a few extra links at the side that could hold a pendant or medallion.
