Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian furniture, dating from roughly 1901 to 1910, is characterised by lighter, more delicate proportions than preceding Victorian styles. It frequently drew inspiration from 18th-century Neoclassical designs, incorporating fine mahogany, satinwood veneers, marquetry inlay, and tapered legs.

Craftsmen primarily utilised mahogany, satinwood, and rosewood, often combining them through fine veneering and marquetry techniques. Legs were typically square-tapered or turned, and joints relied on hand-cut dovetails for drawers alongside traditional mortise and tenon frames.

Authentic pieces display signs of hand-craftsmanship, such as slight irregularities in the stringing and marquetry, natural age-related shrinkage in the timber, and hand-cut drawer construction. Original hardware, period-appropriate castors, and genuine age patina on the underside of timber surfaces also confirm authenticity.

An Edwardian table functions well as a sofa end table, an entry hall accent, or a bedside stand in contemporary settings. Pairing its rich mahogany hues and geometric inlay with modern lighting or neutral upholstery creates an effective contrast between period character and clean modern lines.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth following the wood grain. Protect the surface from direct sunlight and heat sources, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the timber and finish without causing synthetic build-up.
