Description

This charming little 'chanteh' or vanity-bag has a vagireh design in the knotted-pile face, indicating that the weaver was playing with the ideas of design or maybe incorporating two border patterns in the design!

The bag is in very good condition with original plain-weave back in horizontal bands of beautiful natural colour and complete with tassels.

Made by Qashqa'i nomads in Fars province, south-west Persia circa 1880, vanity-bags were used by women only for containing personal possessions such as jewellery, coins and a mirror.

Size: 18cm x 18cm (7" x 7") excluding tassels.
