Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Tunbridge Ware is a style of decorative woodwork produced in and around Tunbridge Wells in Kent, England, predominantly during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The technique involves combining naturally coloured wooden rods into complex geometric or pictorial blocks, which are then sliced into thin mosaic veneers.

Craftsmen used a wide variety of native British timbers, including holly, laburnum, yew, sycamore, and plum, selected specifically for their natural hues rather than artificial stains. These mosaic veneers were typically applied over a structural base of dark wood, such as rosewood, walnut, or mahogany.

Authentic pieces feature end-grain wooden mosaic tesserae glued together to form patterns, rather than painted, printed, or flat-cut marquetry. Genuine examples display minor irregularities consistent with hand-assembly and show natural wood grain variations without synthetic dyes.

A small inlaid stamp box can be styled as a functional desk organizer for small stationery items, layered on top of a stack of coffee table books, or displayed inside a glazed cabinet. Its dark timber tones and geometric patterns integrate well with classic study furniture and modern shelving setups.

Keep the wood preserved by dusting regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and applying a light coat of beeswax polish sparingly when required. Avoid liquid cleaners, direct sunlight, and placement near radiator heat, which can dry out the glue and cause veneers to lift.
