A gorgeous large Georgian solid silver serpent knot brooch with a delicately scaled body, ornately decorated head and turquoise cabochon eyes. Snakes have traditionally been regarded as a potent symbol representing the opposing forces of good and evil, fertility and rebirth, poison and medicine.

The piece is in very good antique condition; the eyes are likely replacements, with one turquoise cracked but sturdily fixed in place.
