Stunning Large English Sterling Silver Jewelry Box - 1918

Description

A wonderful large oval jewellery box in sterling silver, lovely quality and highly decorative with it's engine turned stripes and heavy raised border. To the centre is a large circular cartouche, which could be engraved by your silversmith if desired.

The box stands on four very smart foliate legs almost in a fleur de lys design. The lid fits well and when opened reveals a lined base in navy blue velvet.

The box bears the full English hallmark for Birmingham 1918 together with the makers mark S*B for the renowned silversmiths, Synyer & Beddoes -Harry Synyer & Charles Joseph Beddoes.

A really good showy piece in excellent condition, a goo size too, measuring 5" x 5 5/8" x 2 1/2" tall.
