Artisan Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.

The bowl of the spoon is in the form of an oyster shell and presents a wonderful three-dimensional and fluid design, reminiscent of Rococo style/revival. The piercings have been carefully thought out and made as perforations where the natural bumps would lie on real oysters.

The gilded bowl not only creates a lovely contrast to the overall silver colour but also adds a layer of protection from the silver tarnishing.
The stem/handle of the spoon also is intricately embellished with chased and engraved motifs and figural forms.

A wonderful collectible and also practical piece of modestly sized yet impressively ornate silverware. This spoon would most certainly grace a sifter collection or as an addition to your dining table for an opulent setting and dining experience.

A set of English hallmarks are present on the reverse side of the spoon's handle.
