Artisan Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.

The workmanship is impressive with a high degree of accuracy forming many geometric shapes and cartouches. On one side a floral bouquet is engraved and a coastal scene can be found on the other side.
With practicality, elegance and style combined in one, this cigarette case is the perfect accoutrement for any tobacciana collections or collectors of intricate small antique boxes/cases. Sleek enough to be effortlessly tucked away inside of an inner pocket yet able to carry enough for a day's outing with perhaps one or two extra for your company.

The interior is also fully silver gilt which provides a layer of protection from the contents inside oxidising/tarnishing the silver.
A further testament to its quality and degree of detail is the spring-loaded push button that still functions very well and allows the lid to be opened with one hand.

Whislt originally designed for holding cigarettes, this case could also be used for short-form cigars, holding matches or small items. A perfect gift or addition for the discerning individual and an equally delightful conversation starter, rich with history and aesthetic elegance.

French marks are present on the inner bezel of the case with a Minerva 950 silver standard mark and maker's mark.
