A nicely made 19thc lignum vitae ceremonial gavel, used to call order by a judge, auctioneer or the chairman of a meeting....this one has beautifully carved floral decoration around the middle and base of the handle and the centre and outside edges of the mallet....in very nice condition with a fine colour.
English. C1840-60.
