A superb large Art Deco solid silver Sugar Shaker/Caster. Beautifully formed, the body is a lovely baluster shape which stands on a single circular foot. The pull- -off top is neatly pierced with graduating vertical lines adding to the wonderful art deco appearance and there is a neat finial to the top.   Clear, crisp hallmarks are visible on one side for The Sheffield Assay Office with a date mark for 1937, along with the Lion Passant for sterling silver and the maker''s marks for the renowned silversmiths: Mappin & Webb. Partial hallmarks can also be seen on the lip of the lid.
