An important vintage sapphire and diamond ring. The sapphire in the centre – certified as natural, unheated and originating from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) – weighs an impressive 11.96 carat and displays a distinct colour change: blue in daylight, purple in incandescent light. The stone is rubover set in platinum and surrounded by 39 eight-cut diamonds. Decorative scroll work in the gallery leads to a slender platinum shank.
Accompanied by a report from Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.
Cut – Oval cabochon cut sapphire and eight-cut diamonds.
Clarity – The sapphire is eye-clean. The diamonds are VS1 to VS2.
Carat – The sapphire is approximately 11.96, with an approximate diamond weight of 0.39 carat.
Circa – 1935.
Size – M 1/2 (UK) or 6.25 (US). Complimentary sizing is available, can go up or down.
Measurements – The sapphire is 14.10 x 10.30mm. The head of the ring is 18.9 x 15.5 and sits 8.6mm from the finger.
