Dutch genre painting is a style of art that emerged during the 17th century depicting scenes of everyday life, including domestic interiors, tavern gatherings, and market settings.

Copper provides a smooth, non-porous surface that prevents oil paint from sinking in, allowing artists to achieve exceptional fine detail, rich luminosity, and smooth brushwork.

Authentic paintings on copper typically display natural signs of age on the metal reverse, such as patination or oxidisation, along with fine craquelure in the paint layer consistent with historical oil pigments.

Displaying historical oil paintings within a curated gallery wall or above traditional cabinetry provides warm visual interest and bridges classical aesthetic features with contemporary decor.

Keep the artwork in a climate-controlled room away from direct sunlight and moisture, dusting gently with a dry, soft brush without applying liquid cleaners.
