Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Novelty silver pepper casters are functional dining accessories designed in decorative, sculptural forms such as animals, birds, or mythical figures. Popularised during the 19th century, these items combined utilitarian table service with artistic craftsmanship and playful design themes.

Victorian pepper pots were typically crafted from sterling silver, Sheffield plate, or silver-plated base metals. High-grade items were constructed from solid sterling silver using casting, chasing, and engraving techniques to create intricate surface texture and detail.

Authentic British sterling silver pieces feature official assay office hallmarks, including the lion passant mark for silver purity, a town mark, a date letter, and a makers mark. Victorian silver also frequently carries a duty mark depicting the profile of Queen Victoria.

Sculptural silver table accessories function as conversation pieces on formal dining tables, sideboards, or bar carts. They can be displayed alongside contemporary glassware or contrasting wooden trays to emphasize their polished metallic finish.

Clean sterling silver using a soft silver polishing cloth or specialized silver foam, wiping gently along the contours to avoid removing chased details. Ensure all salt or pepper residues are completely emptied and dried before long-term storage, as mineral salts can cause localized corrosion.
