Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A serving table, or server, was designed for dining rooms to hold dishes, decanters, and cutlery during formal meals. Popularised during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, these pieces preceded fully enclosed sideboards while providing a flat serving surface and drawers.

High-quality Scottish furniture from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries typically features solid mahogany or walnut, richly figured wood veneers, and cast brass handles. Construction techniques include hand-cut dovetail joints and decorative carved legs.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of traditional craftsmanship, such as hand-jointed drawer linings, natural patination on wood surfaces, original brass drop handles, and occasionally stamped makers marks or metal badges along drawer frames.

Position the serving table against a prominent wall in a dining space, grand hallway, or open-plan living room. Pair the dark timber with contemporary artwork positioned above and modern ceramic accents on the tabletop to create a balanced juxtaposition.

Dust the surfaces regularly using a soft, dry lint-free cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice per year. Ensure the item is positioned away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent timber shrinkage and veneer cracking.
