Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in early 19th-century Britain, Regency brass-inlaid boxes typically feature rich dark timbers such as rosewood or mahogany decorated with intricate cut-brass foliate or geometric motifs, reflecting the influence of French Boulle marquetry.

These boxes were predominantly crafted from exotic veneers such as dark rosewood or zebrawood over a pine or oak carcass, accented with cut brass inlays, escutcheons, and velvet or silk linings.

Authentic Regency brass inlay is set flush into the wood veneer, often showing slight unevenness, gentle surface wear, or subtle oxidisation around the metal edges where the timber has naturally shrunk over time.

Place the box on a contemporary sideboard, dressing table, or desk to add a focal point that contrasts warm timber textures with modern minimalist furniture.

Keep the box in a temperature-controlled environment away from direct sunlight and heat sources, clean it gently with a dry microfibre cloth, and apply a specialized beeswax polish to protect the timber without tarnishing the metalwork.
