Antique Victorian French Garnet Brooch Silver Gold Gilt

£1,475    $1,882    €1,775
An exquisite antique garnet brooch made in France in the early 19th Century (Circa 1840). The domed gallery is decorated with twenty flat cut garnets with a luxurious red-wine hue with beautiful floral artistry chased in between.

Garnet is the birthstone of January and has been desired throughout history for its strength and blazing crimson-red or cherry-pink flame that glows beneath its dark exterior. It’s considered a stone of the heart and is symbolic of passion and enduring love.

The piece is modelled in silver and gilded in a high-carat yellow gold along the front with beautiful foliate engraving at the back. It’s been beautifully preserved across the centuries and is complete with its original pin at the back and bears French silver marks on the catch.
