A George III period, oak tripod supper table, Circa 1770. A quality country table, featuring a pleasingly figured, solid oak top. A tilt mechanism. Supported by a baluster stem, raised on a tripod of cabriole legs.
A quality, mostly original and well presented table. In very good overall condition. Ready for use.
Dimensions:
This table measures approximately 68.25 cm (27'') tall, and the top is 80.5 cm (31.75'') by 78.5 cm (31'').
Condition:
Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This table is in overall very good and mostly original condition, commensurate with its age, and is structurally sound and sturdy. The hinge element within the block has been repaired and replaced. The planks in the top have been adjusted, to address the shrinkage across the grain in the oak, and as a consequence the locking catch and underside stretcher screws have been moved to account for this. Other than these the table is original, with no other repairs or damage. The
...re is a little natural aged warping in the block on the top of the stem, which does cause the top to slant very slightly from one side to the other (1.5 cm or 1/2 inch). Some minor/small marks and blemishes. Very good colour, polish and patina. The table is waxed polished, not French polished. Cleaned and waxed, and ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
