N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This beautiful antique fusee library clock has a rosewood case with a beautiful colour and grain.
The body of the case is then square with thick, bevelled glass panels to the sides as well as glass panels to the front and back. There is then “belled out” section which is typically found on library clocks. There is then a further moulding leading to the base which is finished by four round brass feet.
The dial is then silvered and set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring to the outside marking the minutes. The dial is then by the maker to the centre “Archibald Haswell London”. The corners of the dial then have lovely patterned designs. Finally the dial is finished by two lovely shaped hands as well as its protective glass set into the door.
The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It is a single chain fusee example of the upmost quality and ticks away as it should. The movement also comes complete with its regulating pendulum, travel nut, and winding key.
It measures approximately:
13” / 33cm Tall.
9.25” / 23.5cm Wide.
7.25” / 18.5cm Deep.
