An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare antique European cast sterling silver madeira decanter label / bottle ticket; an addition to our wine and drinks silverware collection.
This exceptional and unusual antique 19th century cast sterling silver decanter label/bottle ticket has been modelled in the form of a bat, with wings extended.
The subtly convex body is embellished with cast details replicating the bat''s textured anatomical features.
The decoration to the bottle label incorporates the beverage name ''MADEIRA'' across the wings and torso of the bat.
This large label is suspended by two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain.
This impressive bottle ticket has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as sterling silver (.925, 925/1000).
Such large examples are desirable and rare to the market.
Condition
This large antique decanter label is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The cast decoration is all very sharp.
There are no hallmarks as to be expected with such a piece; the date and origin can be determined by the composition and decoration.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of antique novelty silver.
