Description

A late Victorian Royal Worcester cup and saucer decorated with a Japanese aesthetic movement style with moulded ribbed detail, shaped rims and a rope twist thumb rest to the tightly scrolled handle. A blush ivory finish painted with autumnal flowers, chrysanthemums, asters, fuchsias and veronica in muted oranges, blues, olive greens and dusky pinks, all very finely over-detailed in gilt. Soft matte gilding to the rims and handle, textured over a terracotta enamel. Factory marks to both with date code for 1894.

The cup measures 7.5cm (2 15/16") rim to rim and 5.5cm (2 1/8") high and the saucer is 13.5cm (5 1/4") wide and 1.9cm (3/4") high.

In excellent condition with no damage or repair and very minor handling wear.
