Description

A handsome pair of late Victorian pair of letter or postage scales dating to around 1895. The shaped base is made from solid Mahogany, with the balance signed by the London maker, T.J. Smith, Son & Downes. They are also stamped "Warranted Accurate".

The right-hand pan is engraved with the postal rates during the late Victorian and Edwardian era. The scale has a good set of brass weights.

Excellent condition having been professionally re-polished to gleam. The base measures 8" x 4 1/2" and stands 4" tall.
