A wonderful Edwardian oval trinket box in solid silver. The hinged top opens and closes smoothly and has a plain polished top decorated with a very pretty border of swags and flowers around the edge. The body of the box is a lovely plain polished silver with a small rim to the base, and the interior is lighted gilded with a most attractive pale lemon yellow finish.
A very attractive and nicely proportioned box in which to keep small trinkets and treasures.
Hallmarks: Very clear hallmarks are visible to the underneath of the box for the Chester Assay Office, 1902 with makers mark for James Deakin & Sons, and Lion Passant indicating the finest sterling silver. Partial hallmarks can also be seen on the lid lip.
Condition: there is a tiny pin prick hole to the decorative border, but otherwise the box is in good antique condition.
