A feature that stands out is the conical shape also having an incised circles which is very typical of Keith Murray’s designs. Highest quality so sought after by collectors.
Keith Day Pearce Murray (1892 - 1981) was born in New Zealand, he arived in England when he was young at around 14. He trained & became an architect, though he decided to go into illustrating before he became a full time designer. He worked on a freelance basis for glass makers Steven & Williams, also with Wedgwood pottery & Mappin & Webb.
Mappin & Webb is a British treasure with over 240 years of history. Renowned for combining timeless craftsmanship with superior quality and design. It’s a story that began in 1775, when Jonathan Mappin opened a workshop in Sheffield. His mission was to create the most beautifully crafted silverware for British society. Over time the company expanded internationally also receiving Royal Warrants and commissions from Monarchs globally, they became known for with excellence, craftsmanship and all things British.
