RARE TO COME ACROSS A TRIBAL WEAVING ON THIS GORGEOUS SAPPHIRE BLUE CENTRAL FIELD COLOUR WITH CENTRAL TWIN BUTTERSCOTCH COLOURED MEDALLIONS WITH STYLISED CYPRESS TREES TO THE TOP AND BOTTOM AND IN THE MIDDLE.

THE FIELD SCATTERED WITH TRIBAL DEVICES,ROSETTES,FOLIAGE,PEACOCKS AND BIRDS AND AGAIN TO THE CENTRE A PAIR OF PECKING CHICKENS.

Khamseh rugs originate from a nomadic confederacy of five distinct tribes located in South West Persia near Shiraz. These textiles are recognised for their geometric medallion designs, stylized animal motifs, and rich, natural-dyed colour palettes.

Traditional Khamseh rugs are hand-knotted using hand-spun wool pile tied onto a wool warp and weft foundation. They feature symmetrical or asymmetrical knots coloured with natural dyes derived from madder root, indigo, and walnut husks.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-bound selvedges, soft wool foundations, and subtle colour variations known as abrash. Common motifs include stylized chickens or birds scattered across a central diamond field and multi-band geometric borders.
