Webberley Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.
The drop in seat has been newly upholstered in an oriental design fabric of peacocks and lilies, with gold thread detailing and in excellent condition.

The stool is sound and solid without breaks or repairs. There are a few tiny nicks to the walnut on the seat rails and here and there to the moulded border. The surface with minor marks and dings consistent with age and use and a couple of very old worm holes, long since dead.

The stool is sturdy and usable and a lovely small size. It is tall and sits down very nicely and hugs the ground.
A really beautiful mid Georgian walnut stool of a most attractive form in excellent showroom condition.
