A Small and Interesting 18th Century Dutch Oak Cabinet in 17th Century Style.
This interesting piece is of compact size and fine proportions, constructed entirely of oak with applied mouldings and some ebonised details. The overhanging cornice balances on a moulded frieze with three ebonised panels. Beneath this are two small doors above two large ones, each flanked by fluted columnar pilasters. Between the two sets of panelled doors with ebonised centres, is an overhanging moulding, and another moulding divides the lower set of doors from the panelled drawers in the base. A final overhanging moulding sits above ebonised flattened bun feet.
The top cupboard, concealed by the smaller doors, is plain inside but the lower cupboard has a fixed shelf with a chip carved outer frieze moulding with geometric detailing.
