Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian corner cabinets were designed to maximise floor space by fitting into room corners. They often feature dark hardwood construction, rich veneers such as burr walnut, decorative marquetry inlays, gilt metal mounts, and glazed doors for displaying porcelain or ornaments.

Cabinetmakers primarily used solid hardwoods and rich decorative veneers, including walnut, mahogany, and rosewood. Inlay detailing incorporated boxwood or fruitwood, while decorative mounts were cast in brass or gilded bronze (ormolu), paired with hand-blown glass panels.

Authentic pieces display period-specific joinery, such as hand-cut dovetails on interior framework and hand-planed backboards shaped to a ninety-degree angle. Natural age-related oxidisation on metal fittings and subtle irregularities in mouth-blown glass panels also signal age.

Positioning a corner cabinet in an underutilised alcove adds vertical interest and architectural depth to a room. Placing contemporary ceramics or curated glassware inside the glazed display creates a visual balance between modern decor and historic craftsmanship.

Dust surfaces regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth to prevent build-up. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly along the grain to protect the wood, and avoid harsh metal cleaners on gilt ormolu mounts to preserve the historic patina.
