Large Victorian Copper Lidded Saucepan

Description

A good example of a large antique copper saucepan with its original lid. It is excellent quality made from a heavy 2mm copper with a lovely neat seam and cast iron riveted handles.

It is in good original condition and displays well with a lovely aged patina. There are no major damages. There are some signs of age and use, some minor dents, dinks and surface marks but nothing untoward. The tin lining would likely benefit from re-tinning if the saucepan were to be used.

Diameter : 9” / 23cm

Length inc Handle : 18" / 46cm

During the Victorian era, copper was the preferred metal for professional and large country house kitchens due to its superior heat conduction. Culinary vessels were produced in heavy gauges to withstand daily use on coal-fired ranges.
