A lovely William Comyns pierced silver bonbon spoon, from the late Victorian era. This superb example has a fully cast and lightly gilt pierced bowl, featuring flowers, leaves, mythical birds and a central Mermaid figure. The floral motifs are repeated on the shaped and pierced handle. As one would expect from this superior maker, the spoon is of excellent gauge silver and good quality. Bonbon spoons were used for serving, the pierced bowl allowing the powdered sugar to fall through, leaving just the sweetmeat. An eye catching and practical piece. Dimensions below.
