Artisan Antiques has dated this piece to the 1920s.
The exterior features a wonderful deep blue guilloche enamel with a very fine starburst pattern. The entirety of the case is gilt (gold on top of solid silver) which creates a vivid and regal contrast to the blue and further elevates its opulence.
The interior is also fully silver gilt which provides a layer of protection from the contents inside oxidising/tarnishing the silver.
The push button clasp still functions very well with an audible 'snap' upon closure, keeping all contents held within safely. A further sign of quality is the spring action hinge which automatically opens once the button is pressed.
Whislt originally designed for holding cigarettes, this case could also be used for short-form cigars, holding matches or small items. A perfect gift or addition for the discerning individual and an equally delightful conversation starter.
A set of English import hallmarks are present on both inner panels of the case however the sponsor/maker's mark is worn and indistinguishable.

CONDITION
Great Condition - The cigarette case is in great condition with no major damage or issues. For accuracy: there is some very minor enamel loss of the corners - these are surface level and are only barely visible depending on the angle of lighting and under close inspection. Otherwise in good order and wear commensurate with age.
We aim to overemphasize and state these issues to avoid disappointment and thus please rest assured they are not significant nor affect the usage of the items.
