Description

This wonderfully crafted and intricate 14ct gold mourning brooch was made in the Georgian period c.1800 and features a wonderful array of embellishments.

The brooch itself is shaped in a cartouche design with a central cartouche which is surrounded by a border of seed pearls.

The outer border features a finely hand-chased floral motif which encompasses the black enamel with gold lettering.

The reverse side features a c clasp pin and a later added safety chain.

Overall, a finely crafted and quality piece of Georgian jewellery with an impressive amount of detail in a modest form.

The gold mount is unmarked as is common with many articles of this period. As such, we have tested it for 14ct gold.

All our jewellery come with a complimentary modern hard shell gift box with a velvet interior. Please note, any other antique boxes/display items are not included unless otherwise stated.

Condition: Good antique condition with no major issues/damage. There is one small area of enamel damage to the top right (where the letter R is). Otherwise in good condition with only age-related wear commensurate with age and as expected with antiques.
