We are delighted to offer this stylish 14ct gold Victorian stick pin made c.1890.
Traditionally, stick pins were worn by wealthy gentlemen with both an aesthetic and functional purpose: to keep a cravat in place with elegance and style. Gaining popularity from the early 19th century, stick pins were worn by both ladies and gentlemen with a further range of use such as a lapel pin or tie pin.
This particular example features a wonderful gold ''starburst'' effect with a single old rose-cut diamond in the centre.
Today, although it may be an unlikely occasion to dress with a cravat (especially as ornate as in the Regency period), it is still very much elegant and practical when paired with modern suits, ties or coats - why not get creative and try out some colour combinations and outfits?
Although modest in size and a relatively small accoutrement, we believe such understated and distinguished style and history makes for a subtle yet sophisticated stateme...nt. To the keen-eyed who may notice and take an interest in your sartorial style, it may serve as a wonderful conversation starter, both as a unique piece of jewellery and also a historical object.
The pin is unmarked as typical with pieces of that age, however, we have fully tested the head section to be 14ct gold. Please note the pin itself is either not gold or of a lower carat. We have also attached a modern pin cap for safety so that it is ready to wear out of the box - please note that this is not gold.
All of our jewellery comes with a complimentary hard shell gift box with a velvet interior.
