Exceptional Regency Cabinet Bookcase Circa 1820

• This pretty rare design in rosewood includes well carved rope twist pilasters sitting on super hairy paw feet. The decorate brass mounts are very good quality. The silk moire covered panels sit behind stylish brass grills and for decorative purposes can be removed or replaced with glass. In 35 years I have only seen 3 other types of cabinets of this design and would speculate that they represent the output of just one fine cabinet maker.

• This is well proportioned for modern living – so whilst practical for storage will sit elegantly against a wall without projecting out too far.

• The cabinet comes in super restored condition with the rosewood having developed an attractive colour.

Restoration and Presented Condition

I do not subscribe to the shabby chic or make it like new approach using modern materials which can make future restoration extremely difficult and impede long-term investment value.

Any restoration work is done to the highest (museum) standards using traditional materials so as to not compromise the patina of age.

Accordingly, please note some antique items for sale will have wear and marks associated with use over many generations that adds to the aesthetic beauty of the piece from the collector’s perspective.
