Description

An early example of true re-cycling where late 18th century drawers have been modified in the early 19th century to produce a very versatile collectors cabinet comprising 41 graduated drawers.

This cabinet was used at cambridge as an oological cabinet for the collection of birds eggs.

I seldom use the word 'patina' as it is so often used by some dealers as a euphemism for 'destroyed' and badly abused but in the case of this cabinet it really does apply in the true sense of the word. The cabinet has a very good patina showing it's long service and durability and the subtle change brought about it's longevity. The colour is beautiful and the cabinet is solid. An historic cabinet.

41 graduated drawers ranging in usable depth from five eighths of an inch to two and a half inches. Original lock and key and all drawer knobs present. Some of the drawers have glass inserts but all the drawers could easily be fitted with same.
