William IV Mahogany Bracket Clock by J & E Mason

Description

A very good quality English William IV figured mahogany chamfer top antique bracket or table clock with inset corner panels featuring brass moulded edges. The case has ebony mouldings to the front and is stood on brass ball feet finished with pineapple finial to the top. To the sides, the case has brass fish scale sound frets and decorative floral leaf brass ring carrying handles.

The clock has an eight inch painted dish dial with the makers name:-

J & E Mason

The movement is a five pillar, twin fusee, eight day with pull repeat action and top pendulum adjustment and holdfast. The clock strikes the hours on a bell.

John and Edward Mason are recorded as watch & clock makers, goldsmiths & jewellers of wedding rings working at 14 St Swithins Street from 1828 through to 1850.
