A truly magnificent solid sterling silver claret jug.
 
Clearly hallmarked for London 1848, with the maker''s mark for the highly collectable partnership of Charles Reily & George Storer. In a baluster form with all over foliate engraving around a vacant circular cartouche to the front, standing on a circular pedestal foot. The vine branch handle has integral leaves and grapes and terminates at both top and bottom joints with a profusion of vine leaves and grapes. The hinged cover is fitted with a vine and grape tendril finial.
