Antique Early Metalware 17thc Brass Small Repousse' Worked Alms Dish. Nuremberg C1620-40.

Sold by: Mark Seabrook Antiques

A very good example of an early 17thc brass alms dish, with attractive repousse'' work and punched decoration...it shows the ''two spies'', Joshua and Caleb who were sent to spy on Canaan and they returned carrying a heavy cluster of grapes from the valley of Eshcol, showing it was a very fertile land.....the dish is in very good condition for its age....and if you look closely it has two very small holes, which do not detract in any way.....it has gained a very good mellow colour from years of use...these very collectable dishes look very good displayed on early oak furniture.

Nuremberg. C1620-40.
