Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Corner chairs, often referred to as writing chairs, originated in the early 18th century. Designed with a diagonal square seat and a horseshoe-shaped top rail, they allowed gentlemen to sit comfortably with coat tails hanging neatly over the sides while working at a desk or fitting snugly into room corners.

Georgian country makers typically utilised regional hardwoods such as elm, oak, and ash. Construction relied on traditional joinery techniques, including hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, turned support posts, and cross-stretchers underneath to provide structural rigidity.

Authentic pieces feature signs of historical hand-crafting, including hand-sawn timber undersides, irregular turned posts, wooden peg joinery, and natural wear along the lower stretchers from footsteps over time.

A corner chair works effectively in an unutilised bedroom corner, positioned beside a contemporary writing desk, or placed in a hallway to introduce warm timber patination and historical texture to modern spaces.

Apply a high-quality natural beeswax polish to the dark elm frame once or twice per year to preserve the wood moisture. Protect tapestry upholstery from direct sunlight and dust gently using a soft brush vacuum attachment.
