An fine coloured etching by the eminent engraver Claude Hamilton Rowbotham (1864-1949).
Titled “Westminster” this atmospheric etching depicts a foggy day on the Thames in the early days of the twentieth century.
A busy river scene with figures on the foreshore of the Southbank, Thames barges, steam tugs head upstream and just visible through the mist, Bid Ben, The Houses of Parliament and Westminster Bridge.
Rowbotham was a prominent early twentieth century artist who specialised in topographical scenes.
A clean and bright impression with strong colour within a good early twentieth century
faux rosewood frame. As can be seen in the photos the frame has a few age related marks.
