Elegant Antique French Rosewood Jewelry Box - Brass & Mother of Pearl Inlay

Description

Dating to the mid nineteenth century, this small, smart and elegant Rosewood box is inlaid to the top with brass and Mother of Pearl, engraved to give beautiful detailing.

The edge of the box is finished with a decorative beading and all sides of the box finished with brass stringing including the back, a sign of true quality. The escutcheon which houses the working key also is framed with a circle of brass stringing.

The interior has been recently re-lined with a hand-marbled paper creating a nice clean interior, ready for use as a trinket or jewellery box, also perfect for the desk top.

Excellent condition dating to c.1850 and measuring 6 1/2" x 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" tall.
